I have noticed a lot of people on [Reddit](https://www.reddit.com) and [X](https://x.com) discussing how we can market our products with zero budget. In this blog, we are going to discuss ways we can promote our products and reach the right people with zero marketing budget.

Building a product has always been the easy part, even before the agentic coding era, and it is now even easier with coding agents. The hardest part was always marketing and distribution.

I have noticed a lot of people come up with their next project, which seems like another brilliant idea on paper and in their minds, before investing enough time in marketing and distribution. This trend exists because building is easier than marketing and reaching the right set of people.

Let's jump right back to our topic. The key to distributing your product to the right audience with zero budget is to engage in conversations and publish helpful content aimed at your target audience.

## Engaging with the Right Audience

To engage with the right set of people, Reddit, X, [Hacker News](https://news.ycombinator.com), and [Bluesky](https://bsky.app) can be the right platforms. The idea is to find the platform where your potential customers are already and establish your presence there.

When engaging with your audience on various platforms, you don't always need to talk about your product or the solution you have. It's often better if you just share the insights you have on that topic.

For example, if you own a deployment platform, you could jump into conversations that might involve people trying to move to a VPS from shared hosting. You can participate in discussions where users are asking how many [WordPress](https://wordpress.org) sites they can host on a $5 VPS or what practices they can apply to secure their VPS.

With this approach, you are not just marketing. You are establishing your presence by providing guidance, suggestions, and sharing the knowledge you already have. When people later find you suggesting a product, there are high chances of them believing in you since you were not just promoting your product. You were sharing your knowledge wherever possible.

I also like to put what I am building on my profile. People are always curious about who you are, and when you provide helpful comments, there are chances of people visiting your profile and discovering what you are building without you telling them about your product.

## Publishing Content for Your Target Audience

For publishing content, it's always a good idea to find where your potential customers already are. Once you find the platform, you could maybe come up with platform-specific content.

For publishing content, your product's blog, [Medium](https://medium.com), [TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com), [Facebook Groups](https://www.facebook.com/groups), and [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com) could be the options.

You can start by publishing content on your own product's blog page. Share those updates on X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, or upload videos on [YouTube](https://www.youtube.com). Eventually, you can move to short-form content like TikTok and [Instagram Reels](https://www.instagram.com/reels).

If you work on one YouTube video, that can help you create a couple of TikTok and Instagram Reels from the same video.

For content, I highly recommend structuring it around showing the hard way to do things first, and then showing your solution as a second part, explaining how easily the same thing can be done.

Personally, I like my content to revolve around my potential next customers.

Consider that your product is about server management. You could maybe come up with content around moving away from shared hosting. You can work on one piece of content, such as how to migrate a WordPress site from Infinite Hosting to a $10 [DigitalOcean](https://www.digitalocean.com) VPS, and then recompose the same content for another shared hosting platform and another VPS provider.

Make sure you verify and go through the providers you write about. Just don't publish content for the sake of publishing it.

With this approach, you are targeting content around your potential next customers. When they need the service you offer, they are at least going to remember you since they have already seen you somewhere and have somehow interacted with your platform.

## Conclusion

That's all from my side for this blog.

To summarize, the main things are to engage in relevant conversations. There is no need to promote your product. You can just provide some ideas or suggestions if you have any.

Publish your content on various platforms, covering the hard way to do things, and then show an easier way to do the same thing using your platform.
